General Progress Report:
I've done a heck of a lot of the writing work already (and I have a whole universe of fluff to pare down!), so in my mind all that's left is assembling it into the final layout with some artwork and see how far over/under the 30-page limit I actually am. I'm probably making things more difficult because I want to fit it into a 5"x7.75" book eventually (making it the same size as the print volume I've already made for the comic, 'cause dammit, they ought to go together).
The actual mechanic is still hazy. I'm torn between using RPS (Simpler for more LARP-y conditions) vs. a d20, mebbe a d6 for simplicity's sake. Let's be fair, it just doesn't feel like an RPG to me without a d20, but I know that if dice are the order of the day and marketing is on the horizon, it's a lot easier to get custom D6's made vs. any other type of custom dice.
This concept edition is going to stick to just "six" species to help keep the page count down -- Anyr, Talmi, Kendril, Vidian, Zillan, and (of course) Human. It's a good mix of sizes and scales vs. skins, plus it makes mixing and matching between the lot for Celeste more straightforward.
I've also adjusted the introduction to make it more classically cyberpunk in the "How the hell did it come to THIS?!" sense, though it's more a case of explaining what went right/wrong in the story to justify humanity getting along with a bunch of aliens in the future and how dealing with the undead becomes cyberpunk-ish instead of just being horror flick material.
