Battlemechs, Daikaiju, Dreadnoughts, Demigods. None of this starting with a rusty dagger and 1d10 coins - if a first level character can't flatten a small city, you're doing it wrong. Perhaps they have attributes that represent entire armies, or are simply heroes tasked with policing an entire planet.
Since this year is the centennial anniversary of World War One's beginning, I feel compelled to say perhaps the Great War should be a topic for a contest. Per my usual habit when suggesting topics - Xenofiction with no humans or analogs there of seems like a good possibility as well.
Another genre or creature remix may also be in the cards. It has been a while since we recreated cyberpunk. Vampires and zombies are a bit played out at the moment, but no one is looking under the ocean.
Games of imagination are never truly done. Yet tomorrow we shall start another one.
