We're allowed to re-use settings, right? Not that the game's very heavily setting dependent (I'm mostly adding to the mythos than taking from it, anyway; the only thing that's being kept is the concept of homunculi from Constructs of Azazael and some of the [gameplay unrelated, but explanatory for how magic works which explains why the players can't leave] cosmology).
So far the game is playable (mechanically, it's grafted into a scenario that's far from finished), has extras (maps of the airship), and a NPC named Keeton, so if I need to change the setting now's as good a time as any to rip out stuff and shove it back in.
EDIT (Status Update):
Status Log:
May 5th 11:30 AM: Begin 1:30 PM: Showered, ate, and got cover mostly done. 2:00 PM: Setting “completed”, moved on to “The Scenario”. 2:30 PM: “The Skyship” and “The Situation” complete, started work on diagram of ship. 3:30 PM: Most of the ship diagrams finished, mechanics mostly conceptualized, started dreading porting text to Scribus. 4:00 PM: Ship diagrams finished, started working on “How to Play”. 4:30 PM: Rules “completed”, as much so as they will be before I finish the Booklet of Secrets. Work begins on area and character descriptions. 5:00 PM: Completed several areas, had a stretch, posted question about reusing settings on 1km1kt (probably should have asked before). 5:30 PM: All characters named, all locations completed, finishing characters is the next goal 6:30 PM: Ate dinner, finished up half the characters 7:00 PM: All work prior to the Booklet of Secrets and Scribus typesetting done. Put off making page background, then finally did. 7:30 PM: Gave up on separate cover for Booklet of Secrets, wrote intro to Booklet of Secrets 8:00 PM: Started working on Booklet of Secrets, got sidetracked by ADOM II, died horribly in ADOM II. 8:30 PM: Got a dozen or so pages of the Booklet of Secrets done. 9:30 PM: Got all of the area-related pages of the Booklet of Secrets done, plus Kulo's dialogue tree. Still need to finish other characters' dialogues and the Endings. 11:00 PM: Returned from being sidetracked by the television (stupidly awesome History Channel). 11:30 PM: Finished Tyret's dialogue and secret reveal, started on boss fight. May 6th 12:00 AM: Finished Tyret fight scene, started Keeton dialogue 1:00 AM: Attacked by television again, finished up Keeton dialogue 2:00 AM: Finished all the dialogue and the endings, started working on typesetting. The game is now officially "complete" in the sense that it still needs some final touches in typesetting but it's otherwise done. 3:00 AM: Finished up character sheet so I can link to it in the PDF. 3:30 AM: Only the Book of Secrets and some links in the core PDF need to be done. 4:00 AM: Steadily plodding along on the Book of Secrets to get all the files uploaded so I can make the final versions with correct download links. 5:00 AM: Ate breakfast, finished up spacing out the Book of Secrets into a correct format. 5:05 AM: Test of final versions. 5:07 AM: Final PDF made. 5:08 AM: PDF is up on my site.
BOOKLET OF SECRETS (spoilers ahoy, but pretty much all the gameplay in one/two word blurbs)
I've been thinking I want to try this year's contest, but so far I haven't gotten the slightest idea on what I'd like to do.
I'm kinda bummed about that. Usually I'm full of stupid ideas I'll never do anything with, now that I might just have a way to put one to use, I'm blanking.
