General ranting about game making

Not much conversation going on in forum so I thought I'd just vent ma brain....

my three in work games, and what going on with them.

1) F.O.G.: I have made no progress on updating it due to a key thing I need. I need the game to be play tested...I have NO gaming group. its been that way for years now. So with out a group of my own I would need others to pick it up and play test for me....Bla

2)Hands of Fate (working title): My attempt at a Genre-ist game. AKA a game that is not general, not based on a setting, but focuses on a specific genre. In this case, Survival games. Think lost in the woods, post epoc, Horrors of war.... Writing this one is a bit hard as I'm making a VERY specific game system and getting caught on explaining it. In the end If I can't write how to play it, it can't be played....

2)Do Dark Dungeons Dream (working title): I wanted to sit down and write a game with a real setting (be honest, F.O.G. doesn't really have one). I decided to start with the Character sheet to help show me the game....still can't settle on a setting...bla

besides all that I have like 3-4 powers set ups (2-3 fantasy, 1 sci-fi) roll around in my head that I have no idea what to do with them....

so how are you all?

I'm just coming off of being a PhD student. I've got a few ideas rattling around on my computer.

Rascals: a rpg of the origin stories of steampunk heroes before they were actually heroes. This one's been in the planning stage for over a year now due to being a student. Yes, I will take longer to produce games, but usually I'm further ahead than this. Nonetheless, I've gotten a conference paper out of it.
After the Legend: a high fantasy game which asks, "what do you do after you've defeated the world's biggest baddie?" At this point it's just past the initial brainstorming stage
Storm of the Armadas: I plan to rerelease this wargame while legend of the galactic heroes is still popular. SotA was initially inspired by the anime years ago, but has found new life with the new English translations.

If you've got ideas, but don't know what to do with them, then make sure to write them down. I've got several ideas files on my computer, most of which never get worked into projects.

funny enough writing them down is often how I LOSE ideas. It seems at times that the act of writing causes my brain to try and remove the idea...

I've been playing my murder mystery card game and that's been fun.

In the last week I've thrown together a space opera game using my Energy System. I finally figured out how to break through one of it's rule barriers and simulate numbers large enough to make starships. I'm still fiddling with money in the system because I'd like it to be tied in with the dice. We play tested Friday and it partly worked very well and partly was a total mess. I'm trying to track down the messy bits and squish them without adding rules and complications.

I'm very very slowly working on my super hero game Protector that also uses the Energy System. The big problem I have to tackle is that I wanted a bunch of NPCs and I have to generate them all. I also have a little bit of trouble with the setting that I'd like it to be more episodic like a comic book with super villains.

In the Artifact, my son and I have been working slowly on my biggest hurdle. I have an alien technology which is really central to the story, but I haven't been able to explain it in a way that is intuitive enough. Of course I've been working on that problem for nearly two decades. I get closer to what I'd like every five years or so and develop a new paradigm to explain what's going on. I feel like I'm almost there, but I've said that before.

while it wasn't a lot, doing this thread got me to write more on Hands of fate and D.D.D.D.

I have wanted to write a game were players are monsters hiding and running from humans, more like an artbook, in the style of , but I'm also writing my thesis and taking some courses in printmaking, so that game will have to wait.

I also have my one-page system, I keep saying that I will translate it to English and do some one-page settings for it.
