Re: Eddie George. I think he fist Parcells' system nicely. The thing to remember is that Geroge wants to keep playing. He may not be an outstanding back, but if you look at the contract he accepted- it is positively dripping with incentive pay. In other words, George thinks he can excel in the Parcells system so much so he will turn a nice profit (BTW- I love incentive pay... and kudos to Johnson for landing a solid back with good blocking skills for incentive). He is more than a mentor to JJ- he is a player that will help JJ through the first couple of hard years.

Re: Ricky Williams. Oh well. His call. I don't think he will be back. But I've been wrong before.

We have players who have proven that running backs can make the jump effectively. Clinton Portis, Ladanian Tomlinson, and Dominick Davis spring to mind. Plus, I followed the college football closely the past couple of years. I know that Parcell's is the expert, but Julius Jones, although a good college player, is not even close to as good as Steven Jackson. He had all the tools, plus, he was a big guy who played a lot faster than his 40 time would indicate. He was the real deal, and Saint Louis has said that now they are going to limit the role of Faulk and use him as a receiver more so Jackson can get more carries. Strange since, aside from some minor injuries, Faulk hasn't really slowed down much. But that has to say something for Jackson. Then you have Kevin Jones, a good back whos numbers would've been crazy had he not been splitting carries with Suggs, a member of the Browns. I watched him play too, and the 4.5 he was clocked at must've been uphill. Here's what you have to look at, once he broke free, noone ever caught him. Does that mean that all the corners in the Big East are 4.6 or slower, I doubt it. I maintain that Julius Jones isn't the long term solution, but I guess we'll see when Dallas drafts next year, and with the 2 1st rounders they have, they can fill up 2 holes. I'd say that regardless of how well Jones does this year, it'll be worth it, because next year, one of the best linebackers in college history is coming out, and I don't care who you are, you can find a spot for Derrick Johnson, who is fast enough to play strong safety. And with Woodson being hurt, who knows. But I'd say Dallas is sitting pretty at this point.

I also like the incentive based salary. But he was given a base of 2.2 million. Thats a lot considering that Tennessee was trying to sign him for under 1.5 and most professionals said he would have trouble finding anything more than the veteran minimum. As far as how good he is, everyone keeps talking about his low yards-per-carry, which has been declining. If Tennessee would have gotten him a decent lead blocker after the one he had been following for years left instead of running him out of one back sets, maybe that wouldn't have happened. Dallas has some good blocking fullbacks. Jamar Martin is an animal, if he makes the team, watch out for him to lead the way for Eddie George.

Woodson was origanally expected to be back for around the second game of the season. But Parcells has said that if Pete Hunter does well, we may have to take it from there and maybe Woodson will either get extra time off to heal, or have to at least compete for his job.

More importantly, the latest news is that Quincy Carter has indeed been cut from Dallas for failing a drug test. Dallas wasted no time with this. It's actually kind of funny considering how cocky he has been the past couple of days about this being HIS team and quarterback being HIS job that noone was going to take from him. Vinny Testaverde is currently listed as the day one starter. This might move up Henson's learning curve a bit as Vinny came in as more of a tutor for the young guys than to be the starter. We will see, as more drama is unfolding.

Also, aside from Kellen Winslow being a bitch and not excepting a contract that would have made him the highest paid tight end in football, all the other rookies are quickly signing up, and making a lot of money. Fitzgerald set a record for rookie signing bonus, Manning did the same for a rookie quarterback, and Robert Gallery also has about 20 mill in guaranteed money, you think there teams are expecting these guys to be franchise players for them, it looks like it to me.

Also this is his second or third time an was going to suspended for 3 games by the NFLs rules but dallas decided to just cut him. O well back to a old quarter back.
