Psychic Warrior

Friday, September 2nd, 2005

PSYCHIC WARRIOR is based on and expanded from the 24 hour game DUNGEON SQUAD created by Jason Morningstar as posted here and is covered by the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 Creative Commons license.

One hundred years from now the world is a wasteland.

Unending armed conflicts have left the earth barren and lifeless.

Unchecked industry has left its toxic mark on both sea and sky.

Unregulated science has created monsters.

Humanity huddles behind the walls of it?s mega cities under the almost feudal domination of it?s leaders.

These grim and brutal rulers fight to hold power and their foes are many.

The rampaging horrors of the wastes.

The criminal scum of the under-city.

Rebellious citizens seeking elusive freedoms.

Underlings coveting the seat of power.

The conquering armies of the other cities.

But their servants are the PSYCHIC WARRIORS. Born to serve. Bred to fight. Trained to kill. Awoken amid their closed orders to the terrible powers of the mind?

She’s

Friday, September 2nd, 2005

She’s…is a game for 4 male players. That’s right. Only men should play this game. Hopefully, you’ll learn something. This is an entry for the September 4?24th Ronnie Award.

This is a role playing game with a very specific structure. It shades heavily into the ?collaborative storytelling? genre of role playing, and is designed to ideally be played in one evening. It’s a game for four male persons. That’s right. It should be played by a group of men. It’s about a woman, but its written by a man, and playing the game should say some interesting things about gender roles and how men and woman interact in the social arena. Of course, I have no control over who plays and why, but I feel like a woman playing this game would have some choice things to say to me. Though, if that does happen, I’d love to hear them.

Premise-wise, this game centers on the efforts of four men to win the heart of a woman. When you sit down to play, you guys should decide exactly in which context this will play out. High school? 2-Somethings? Old folks in a home? Superspies from different countries who run into each other again and again? Knights and a maiden? Choose something that you all think will be interesting. Keep in mind that this game is written with a fairly modern conception of gender, so games set in more archaic times will be that much more interesting. The text is written with something contemporary in mind, but that’s by no means a constraint to your actual play.

My Girlfriend’s a Slut/My Boyfriend’s a Dick

Thursday, September 1st, 2005

A roleplaying game for two, in which the players take on the roles of boyfriend and girlfriend in an unhealthy, abusive relationship.

?My Girlfriend?s a Slut/My Boyfriend?s a Dick? (Slut/Dick) is really two games that mirror one another. Both are about unhealthy relationships. The two players take on the roles of boyfriend and girlfriend. Obviously, in Slut, she is the asshole, whereas in Dick, he is.

The other partner in the relationship is in a desperate position: he loves, he hates, he hopes, he suffers. Will he finally be able to make up his mind? To defeat his obsession and give up on what makes him sick? Or will the trap close on him? Will he chain himself with iron manacles to this pity life of humiliation and abuse? That?s what this game is

Chance Encounters

Sunday, August 28th, 2005

Chance Encounters is a GM-less role playing game with a heavy focus on character issues and growth. A selection of characters go through dramatic, personal events, often with profound changes as the result. Sometimes, the characters hardly know each other at the outset, but their initially disparate storylines entangle and collide as new relationships are formed and old ones reawake.

Soul Breaker

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005

Welcome to the world of Soul Breaker, the game of a distant future. Are you prepared to meet your destiny? And to any rate what will it be? Will you be a hero and save reality enslaved people, or will you die trying? Heck, you might even be the one doing the enslavement. The choice is yours.

What is Soul Breaker? That’s the question on your mind right? Well, Soul Breaker is an RPG that is set in a dark future. After many warring years, the Earth was put into a condition to which it could not continue on with its people. Or at least that’s what the history books say. However, the Government made the decision to create a clone to our world using computer programming. Yet, the program couldn’t support any but the wealthiest couples, so another world does exist. In it lie the terrorists that brought the world to its condition (or so the government has thus said). As our programming defenses grow, so do theirs. Occasionally a breach does occur, but it’s usually kept on a low profile.

Arbitrary

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

Arbitrary is a poorly-thought-out attempt at a game; while it contains the seeds of a decent action-orientated RPG it lacks polish, professionalism and any sort of rules for advancement (you’ll have to come up with them yourself). Please, though, do download it and have a read. It’s quite entertaining, and comes with a free (if slightly crap) sample adventure!

A Magic Kingdom After Bedtime

Sunday, August 14th, 2005

A Magic Kingdom After Bedtime is about children who stumble onto a magical land. There, they gain enough confidence to defeat both the threats to the land and the problems they face in the real world.

A Magic Kingdom After Bedtime is a game inspired by those books where a group of children find their way to a magical land that they must save. As in the best of those books, the events in the magical land allow them to learn things about themselves and grow more confident than they could have in the mundane world. The magical land is created as a group effort before play starts. This makes preparation a little more intensive, but sets a stage that everybody is happy with.

Fates

Sunday, August 14th, 2005

A roleplaying game of Storytelling Proportions

Players portray the roles of the Fates as they narrate the events that affect the Storyteller’s journey. A simple dice-less system is used to determine which of the Fates maneuvers the journey of the Storyteller in his attempts to reach his goal.

TalesofAdventure

Sunday, August 7th, 2005

If you could twist the fabric of space and time to pack 198 days into 1 hour then the ToAd would be a 24hr Universal RPG. Providing it was in fact an RPG and not an MRK – or Model Reality Kit – a game which would rather study reality than escape it. The ToAd is played with pencils paper and dice, however it is also one of the few games which stores and creates all of its stuff (characters, races, adventures, equipment, etc…) in online databases. The ToAd is simultaneously twenty years ahead of its time and twenty years behind the times. It is never what it seems and yet it needs to be seen to be believed.
